The Scout Association - Isle of Man, during the Centenary year of Manx Scouting in 2009, is holding a Photographic Competition, which is open to all members of the Association both young and old.

There are two classes Youth Members and Adult Members. Prizes will be awarded for the winners in each section.

All photographs should follow the theme 'Scouting in Mann' and must have been taken during 2009.

All entries must be received by the 30. September 2009 (Entries now closed).

Entries can be sent in by email to scouts@manx.net or put on a CD and posted to:

Please ensure that images are no larger than 2 megabytes in size.

All entries should include the following information:
  • Your name.
  • Address and contact information.
  • Scout Group or Explorer Unit or position in Scouting.
  • A brief description about the photo and whether it is a Youth or Adult Entry.
A maximum of two entries per person will be accepted

Photos will be displayed on the two pages below. On the website we will only display the following information: Name of Photographer (first name only if under 18), Scout Group or Unit and the photo desciption if this has been provided. We reserve the right to edit the description if required.

Voting will start on the 1. October 2009 and will last until the 30. November 2009. Only one vote per email address will be accepted for each class. You can find out how to vote on the photo pages.

Winners will be announced during December 2009.

Terms and Conditions

  1. By entering the competition The Scout Association - Isle of Man will be entitled to use your photograph to promote Scouting, without needing to obtain your permission. By submitting your photograph/s you agree to grant the Scout Association - Isle of Man a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sub-licensable right and licence to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute and exercise all copyright and publicity rights with respect to your photograph/s worldwide and/or to incorporate your photograph/s in other works in any media now known or later developed for the full term of any rights that may exist in your photograph/s.
  2. By submitting your photograph/s to the Scout Association - Isle of Man, you warrant that your photograph/s is/are your own original work and that you have the right to make it/them available to the Scout Association - Isle of Man for all the purposes specified above; and does/do not infringe any law.
  3. We will only accept images as taken and will not accept any image that has been re-mastered or which are montages.
  4. The Scout Association - Isle of Man will not be able to return any images.
  5. Wherever used, we agree to credit your images to you.
  6. We reserve the right to crop the images as we see fit.
  7. This competition is open to members of the Scout Association - Isle of Man only.
  8. Collective Editor's announcement of the winner is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  9. The prize(s) must be taken as stated and cannot be deferred. There will be no cash alternatives.
  10. The Scout Association - Isle of Man does not accept any responsibility for late or lost entries due to the Internet. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt.
  11. No responsibility is accepted for ineligible entries or entries made fraudulently.
  12. This competition is not open to any person directly or indirectly involved in the running of the competition.
  13. The Scout Association - Isle of Man reserves the right to cancel this competition at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of its control.
  14. Where photos of people are submitted, you agree to having the consent of those people wherever possible and if applicable (i.e. members of the general public). If children are featured the consent of their parents/guardians is needed.
  15. Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these rules and to agree to be bound by them when entering this competition. This includes entries made via email.
  16. We reserve the right not to publish images that are submitted and to edit the comments that accompany the image. The site editor's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
