The Scout Association - Jean's Story

Jean Wilkinson offers her time alongside a team of volunteers to provide climbing, abseiling and bouldering activities to scouts. 

Volunteering for shorter time periods means that Jean has no weekly commitment and has the opportunity to encourage young people to have fun while overcoming their fears and achieving something new. 

“You only have to look at what confidence it gives youngsters to pick up something they have never done before and give them the chance to overcome their fears. The whole programme is designed to develop young people, to help them gain self-esteem, learn new things and have a lot of fun.”
