On Saturday 7th July 2007 a special centenary celebration was held in the 2nd Onchan Headquarters. A total of 43 former King and Queen's Scouts came together to share memories of their Scouting days. Each Scout had won their award whilst with a local Troop and four travelled to the Island especially to be there and a further 48 former King and Queen's Scouts who were unable to attend sent their greetings. The oldest former King's Scout present had won his award in 1942 whilst the most recent had attended the centenary Queen's Scout St George's Day Parade at Windsor Castle in April this year.

The most recent Queen's Scout is Robert Thomson from the Douglas Explorers who is seen here with his certificate being admired by Eric Lewin the oldest King Scout present. Eric was with 5th Douglas (St Thomas')(Bishop's Own) Troop and he became a King's Scout in 1942. After war service he left the Island but continued in Scouting, becoming G.S.M of a large Group, 5th Barrow-in-Furness, a member of the Executive Committee for South Cumbria and he is still on the Barrow District Committee. Eric travelled to the Island especially for the event.

Robert Watson and John Cannell (Queen's Scouts with 1st King Williams College Troop) read through John's logbook of a hike and camp they undertook. John had carefully drawn maps of their route and recorded the event in great detail. Being a country lad John was able to tickle a trout which they had for their tea. When they woke up the next morning a lady who lived nearby to where they were camping brought them a cooked breakfast as she felt sorry of these two little lads.
