Photo of 1st Douglas scouts (thought to be 1924) - my uncle, Joe Elliott (smiling) is at the right hand end of the back row. There are several familiar looking faces in the photo - probably related to some of my contemporaries (1st Douglas cubs and 10th Douglas scouts) in the 1950s.

Photograph submitted by Dave Kermode.

The first Scout Troop in Peel was started in 1910 and was called 1st Peel. It was an Open Group but in the 1920s it became attached to St German's Church (now the cathedral). In 1922 2nd Peel was launched and that was run by the Methodist Church in Peel. This photograph shows 1st Peel with Rev Bullock the Scoutmaster on the right. They are lined up on Shore Road (Peel Promenade) ready for a parade behind their own band. Most Groups in the early days had at least a bugle and drum band but at one time 1st Peel had a full brass band.
